Thousands in downtown Madison today for the annual street festival.

The day started out with a parade and this year event organizers honored breast cancer survivors. The parade's grand marshal has been fighting the disease for 15 years.

"One day you might be in the hospital like I was yesterday, the next you're a grand marshal in a parade," said Jeanine Johnson. "It takes a lot of strength, but you get that from people in the community and that's why I really wanted to be grand marshal."

Kids and adults alike enjoyed an antique car show, arts and crafts, sweet treats and music. Boy Scouts there enjoyed selling popcorn to families.

"I enjoyed all the vendors, all the crafts, all the things to register for," one man told us.

We're told they had the largest turnout ever in the festival's history. People of all ages say they had the chance to enjoy the festivities.

"It's just been a great tradition, all the food all the artists. It's just been a great day for all of us, in the heart of Madison," one young boy said.

The festival first started in the 1976 and has grown over the years since then. The event staff believes more than 30,000 people attended throughout the day.
