HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Lace up those running shoes and get ready to hit the trail for a good cause.

The Hero Hustle 5K is set for Sunday, October 23, 2016, at 8 a.m.  The race steps off from Spragins Hall at 1601 Ben Graves Drive North West in Huntsville.

The Hero Hustle is an opportunity to learn about resources available to veterans, particularly veteran suicide.  The slogan for this year's 5K is "Remove The Red Flag," which means removing the label given to veterans who are experiencing readjustment difficulties, chronic depression, stress, anger, anxiety, etc.

There will be veteran resources set up at the event for those wishing to learn more about helping veterans.

Runners and attendees will interact with these resources to get information on how these resources are vital to our veterans success.

Organizations like BeArded WARRIORs,  Connected Warriors of Alabama, and Project HERO Huntsville are just a few of the organizations that will be attending.

Funds raised will be divided between the BeArded WARRIORs for Suicide Prevention and Outreach Resources and UAH Veteran's Network to enhance the veteran resources and services along with community projects.

Everyone is welcome to participate, even if you're not racing.

Tickets are $25.00 for the race.
