MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

The Madison County Tax Collector's Office says the deadline for paying your property taxes is October 1, but the deadline to pay without penalties is December 31.

So far, their office has sent more than 11,000 Business Personal Property notices for, business equipment, and airplanes, and they plan to send out about 166,000 real estate courtesy notices Monday.

They add that most mortgage companies will pay the taxes for their homeowners in November, but you should check with the county's tax collector’s office to see if those payments were actually made by Thanksgiving.

Also if you live in Madison County and you find that you can't knock your property tax bill out in one payment, don't worry because the office will allow you to make partial payments through a payment plan.

So far, their office has sent more than 170,000 collection notices for personal property, business equipment, and airplanes, and they plan to send out even more of those courtesy notices Monday.
