A medical call, turned rescue operation, resulted in the removal of multiple adults and animals from a Tennessee home.

Deputies with the Giles County Sheriff's Office responded to the home on Wednesday to a medical call. Multiple adults were found living among multiple pets in deplorable conditions. One woman in her forties was pronounced dead.

The remaining adults were immediately taken to the hospital for medical care.

Deputies called in the Animal Rescue Corps, an international animal protection organization, to assist with the forgotten pets.

ARC responders found eight dogs, a cat and a bird. All were suffering from obvious signs of long-term neglect, malnourishment and illness.

Every animal was successfully retrieved and transported to an animal hospital. No word on the current conditions of those rescued.

“We are committed to the safety of humans and animals,” said Giles County Sheriff, Kyle Helton. “I’m very grateful that ARC was able to respond so quickly to our call for assistance.”

No charges have been filed at this time. An investigation is underway.
