(WAFF) - After 21 practices, Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff came to a conclusion on who would get the start at quarterback against Clemson. His name: Sean White.
The redshirt sophomore battled Jeremy Johnson and Junior College transfer John Franklin III to win the job.
"He competed at a high level last year," Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn said. "He battled through some injuries, he had a good spring. He's a smart guy that understands the offense. He battled. He battled hard in fall camp. It's tough when you're rotating three guys, you're in a battle, it's tough on all three of them, he responded really well, and he's in a good spot."
White battled a pair of injuries last season but finished last season 83-of-143 passes for 1,1167 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions.
