LIT returns for a third year

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Digital art projections, colorful light and environmental design are coming together for a third year in Downtown Huntsville. Arts Huntsville and Downtown Huntsville, Inc. will transform all sides of the Downtown Square into works of art once again for you and your family to enjoy.

It's all a part of the LIT: Light + Innovation + Technology, a free to attend festival for the public happening Saturday, August 27 from 8pm - 10pm. Curse, Inc. is back to sponsor the event this year.

Event coordinators say this is just another way our community can show off its creativity. As always, it's an event that's fun and appropriate for the whole family.

Chad Emerson, CEO of Downtown Huntsville, Inc. said:

It will be a free, kid-centric event where children of all ages can enjoy light-themed games and activities.... As the sun sets, DayLIT will evolve into LIT as we light the night on the Downtown Square."

DayLIT is a new addition to the event this year. This element will take place before LIT gets underway featuring dark chalk and screen printing, light throwies, green power cars, telescopes and much more. DayLIT, sponsored by Lockheed Martin, starts at 5pm and wraps up before the main event at 8pm.

And don't forget about the food trucks! Fire & Spice, Rollin Lobstah, Sugar Belle, and Hindsight Coffee Co. are just a few of the many eateries on wheels scheduled to be set up at the event for you to enjoy.
