(WAFF) - Two American Olympic swimmers were on their way home Friday after being pulled off a plane a day earlier to testify about an alleged robbery at the Rio Olympics that Brazilian police said was made up. The odds for a lottery coming out of the current special session, which explicitly was tailored for one, faced a major setback after one of the two leading lottery proposals died Thursday. Sen Jim McClendon's lottery bill SB11 died without even getting to a vote on the senate floor. Instead, lawmakers failed to make a cloture petition to end debate, falling 11 votes short of what was needed.
We're starting this morning with mostly cloudy skies and a few foggy spots. Scattered light-to-moderate rain showers are also possible through the morning hours. That activity should become more widespread and heavier through the day. Temperatures will be slow to warm due to all the clouds. We should be in the lower 80s by Noon with highs into the mid-80s.
