Man grabs cash from Madison convenience store

MADISON, AL (WAFF) -

Convenience stores normally offer self service gas pumps. But as you'll see in this week's Huntsville Area Crime Stoppers, a crook must have thought that meant the cash register was self service too.

The crime, which occurred on May 27, was caught on camera. The footage shows the man walk into the Sunoco Store at 3721 Sullivan St. in Madison. He hovered around the counter then, after about 20 seconds, he saw the open cash register as his invitation to lean over the counter and grab some money.

He even gave the cashier a defiant look on the way out.

When he left the store, he got into a waiting 2002 Blue Dodge Dakota. Police said the car had just been stolen from a nearby parking lot.

This is your chance to legally grab some cash if you can help identify the suspect. There's up to $1,000 in reward money.
