FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Temperatures to be in low-to-mid 90s with a heat index around 100°

(WAFF) -

Areas of dense fog can be expected across the Valley through around 8-9 a.m. You may want to give yourself a few extra minutes of drive time just in case you need to slow down.

We should see a mix of sun and clouds after any fog lifts with a fair amount of sunshine breaking through as we head towards the lunch hour. Temperatures should warm quickly from the late morning into the afternoon. Highs will be in the low-to-mid 90s today with a heat index around 100°.

Additional cloud cover will develop this afternoon, and isolated storms could pop up as well. Storm coverage will remain less than yesterday, and the best chance of seeing any rain today would be west of I-65. Look for any storms to fade away this evening with mainly clear skies overnight. Lows will fall into the lower 70s.

The heat is on for the latter half of the work week!  Highs will push into the mid-90s Thursday and Friday with mostly sunny skies. Isolated storms are possible each afternoon, but we won’t see anything too widespread. The heat index on these days should stay between 100-104°.

It’s important to stay hydrated and take more frequent breaks if you’ll be working in this heat. Into the weekend, our weather becomes more unsettled.  Saturday should still be hot with highs in the low/mid-90s, but there’s a better chance for storms in the afternoon.

Highs Sun-Tue should be closer to 90°. We’ll see more clouds over this time period, and several rounds of rain are possible. That said, I don’t think any of these days will qualify as a washout.
