FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Scattered storms to develop Tuesday

(WAFF) - Clouds will be on the increase this morning as scattered showers across Middle TN make their way to the south. Isolated storms are possible for the morning commute in the Valley, and locally heavy rain may accompany some storms. Temperatures are in the low/mid-70s to begin the day.

After this round of morning showers, we should be dry as we head towards the lunch hour. Another round of scattered storms should develop this afternoon.  Storm coverage should be higher than yesterday, and some storms could be strong.

This activity should wind down as the sun is setting and we'll see passing clouds overnight with many staying dry. Lows will bottom out in the lower 70s for Wednesday morning.

The heat builds for the latter half of the week. Highs Wednesday-Saturday should be into the mid-90s. With the humidity factored in, the heat index is likely to push into the lower triple digits. Each afternoon will feature a low chance for pop-up storms.

The rain chance begins to go up for the weekend. We should see more cloud cover as well as more numerous storms compared to the end of the work week.  The unsettled weather sticks around to start the new work week as well.

Temperatures should be slightly cooler with this more unsettled weather. Look for highs closer to 90° by Sunday and Monday.
