HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

A mattress left on Clinton Avenue has prompted concerns from the city of Huntsville's Operation Green Team.

Crews that removed the mattress also picked up another one left illegally on Dallas Street, which was put on WAFF's SeeClickFix page. The complaint states it sat there for two weeks.

"It's all over town. It's just in various locations. A lot of times people doing illegal dumping don't necessarily go right on street. They go into areas a little bit more isolated," said Operation Green Team Director Joy McKee.

McKee said mattresses in good condition like the one on Clinton Avenue could be donated or placed curbside with trash rather than illegally discarded on the street.

"We don't want that for our community. We want every part of the city of Huntsville to be as beautiful and as clean as possible, and we sure don't need illegal dumping along with just regular littering," said McKee.

Disposal concerns can be directed to the Operation Green Team at 256-53-CLEAN or the Solid Waste Disposal Authority.
