A year ago the defense reigned supreme for Alabama en route to a national championship. This year that unit could possibly be even better.
As crazy as it might sound, the 2016-17 unit has the potential to be even better than last season's national title group
The front seven will be fast. Really fast. Reuben Foster, Shon Dion Hamilton and Rashaun Evans among others at linebacker. Add Tim Williams and Jonathan Allen as edge rushers? It could be a long day for opposing offenses.
"Oh we definitely believe the level of the line could be better," Defensive Lineman Jonathan Allen said Wednesday. "Guys will have to step up in new roles and responsibilities. Now, they have to prove they can do that. I have the utmost confidence in our D-line to do that."

In what may have been the weakness on last seasons Defense could be the strength this season. The secondary blast Freshman all American Minkah Fitzpatrick, Marlon Humphrey, and Eddie Williams.
"I think we're one of the best, because we come in, compete," Safety Eddie Williams added. "You know you have a whole bunch of guys that kill the weight room, we hold each other accountable. Little things, like going to class, doing your work, and executing your assignments, things like that and being coachable."
"If these guys complete these things internally, they will be able to play in the first game."— Carl Prather (@CarlPratherWAFF) July 13, 2016
