Deputies say the suspects and a woman, who does not face charges, were camping on private property and lit a campfire overnight Thursday into Friday morning.

According to the sheriff's office, the two Cullman County men did not ensure the fire was property extinguished before they left. That's when the winds induced by the hot dry weather made the fire spread.

Three homes have been lost so far to the blaze and and the sheriff's office said the number may increase.
