FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Heat index values around 104° continues for Friday

(WAFF) -

The First Alert for afternoon heat index values around 104° continues for your Friday. It’s another warm and muggy morning with temperatures generally in the mid-70s. We’ll warm up quickly with a mix of sun and clouds. The heat index should be close to 90° by 9 a.m.

Actual temps will hit the 90s before lunch with highs into the mid and upper 90s. We may see a stray storm pop up this afternoon, but as has been the case the last few days, higher chances will miss us to the north. Look for a few passing clouds tonight with lows once again in the mid-70s.

Over the weekend our chance for showers and thunderstorms will increase beginning late Saturday. Occasional rain and storms can be expected throughout the day on Sunday, but it won’t be a total washout.

Rather than a steady, driving rain all weekend, it’s more likely we see several rounds of scattered storms from Saturday through Monday afternoon.  Locally heavy rain will accompany any storms that develop.

Some strong gusty winds will also be possible. While it will not rain all weekend, there will likely be delays to some outdoor plans due to rain and lightning.  Rainfall totals between 1-2 inches are possible and it’s much needed.
