IDER, AL (WAFF) -

One pharmacy is out of thousands of dollars in cash and prescription medication after burglars broke in early Tuesday morning.

Right now, DeKalb County Sheriff's investigators are looking for leads to the thieves who broke into the Ider Discount Pharmacy.

They said it's a horrible situation from not only the paperwork involved but now there are drugs on the street.

The burglary at the pharmacy happened between 3 and 5 a.m. Tuesday.

Pharmacy officials said they gained access breaking the front door which has now been repaired.

The manager believes this must have been a professional hit as they came in and completely cleaned off the shelves of only what they wanted.

Officials had to account for all the drugs that were stolen with state agencies but their biggest concern is the danger that's now out there.

“That's my biggest concern is there's way too much medicine out there now on the streets and they're going to be selling it and not worried about the peoples’ lives that they're going to hurt doing it. They're just going to make a lot of money doing it,” said Ider Pharmacy Manager Michelle Feeney.

If anyone has any information about this crime you’re asked to contact the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
