FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Another warm and muggy start to the day

(WAFF) -

Skies are mainly clear Monday morning, and it’s another warm and muggy start to the day.

Temperatures are generally in the low-to-mid 70s. We could see a few foggy spots before 8 a.m. Clouds should be increasing through the day Monday, and an isolated shower is possible in the morning. The higher chance for rain and storms will hold off until the afternoon. Scattered storms can be expected, and some of them will be strong with frequent lightning, gusty winds, and locally heavy rain. Outside of the storms, winds should switch to the north around 10 mph. While rain is not a guarantee for everyone, storm coverage this afternoon should be more widespread than it was over the weekend. Storms should fade away as the sun sets.

Look for partly cloudy skies overnight with lows in the lower 70s. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds on Tuesday, and isolated showers are possible through the first half of the day. The higher chance for rain in the afternoon will shift south of the TN River and into central AL.  Highs will top out in the upper 80s, and a north wind should lead to a slight drop in humidity.
