(WAFF) -

Good morning. Trent Butler here hoping you enjoyed your weekend. We're here on this Monday morning to help you wake up as you face another work week.
We're covering two deadly shootings this morning involving women with connections to Decatur. A Decatur woman is facing a murder charge this morning after police say say shot her husband at their home. Investigators say Michelle Lee Owens was taken into custody on murder charges after police found her husband Lawrence Owens dead at the home on Lenox Drive Sunday. This morning, Franklin White will share more details as investigators look for a motive in the case.
We are learning more about a horrible shooting in Houston that involved a woman from Decatur and left three people dead. Police say they had to shoot and kill Christy Byrd Sheats after she refused to put down her gun. Investigators say, Sheats gunned down her two daughters after an argument in the home spilled out into the street. Family members say, Sheats and her husband, Jason Sheats, both have ties to Morgan County.
You may have seen the heartbreaking images from West Virginia this past weekend as flooding has claimed the lives of at least 25 people. The high waters are receding in some areas, but now forecasters are predicting more rain. We'll have an update from that hard hit state.
Here in the Tennessee Valley, we do have a better chance of rain today after a very hot weekend. Yet, today's isolated storms could produce heavy rain, strong wind gusts and lightning. Make sure you catch David Ernst's forecast this morning as we start another week on WAFF 48 News Today.
