Kitchen Cops: 3 of 4 low performers score in the 70s

The Domino's Pizza on 11th Street in Decatur scored a 77 during their recent inspection.

The Morgan County Health Department reports finding roaches the food prep area. The Domino's also lost points because some food in cold-holding wasn't cold enough to prevent bacterial growth. The inspector reports chicken was 13 degrees over the required 41-degree temperature, cheese was six degrees off, and steak for Philly cheese steaks was too warm by five degrees

The Hardee's on South Jefferson Street in Athens is this week's lowest scoring low performer with a 76. The Limestone County Health Department reports finding dirty drink nozzles, a dirty ice chute, and dirty metal bins stored with the clean ones.

The Captain D's in Muscle Shoals scored a 78. The Colbert County Health Department reports finding tilapia in a sink that was nearly forty degrees over the temperature required for cold food. Also, toxic items were reportedly stored on a counter with a spoon being used to stir tea.

O'Charley's in Huntsville scored an 82. The Madison County health department reports several cold-holding food items were above the mandated maximum temperature, and an open employee's drink was sitting above a food prep table.

After Walker's Restaurant in Union Grove scored a 70 last month, the Walker family said it would be the last time they'd score so low.  This time. they kept it clean, a 95, a 25-point improvement, getting Walker's off of the low performers list.

The Five Guys Burgers & Fries on Point Mallard Parkway is one of this week's five Kitchen Cops High Performers that scored a 99. The others are Lawlers Barbecue Express in Owens Cross Roads, Wild Lilly Restaurant/Victorian Tea Room in Muscle Shoals, the Dale's Stuft food truck in Huntsville, the deli at the Publix in Owens Cross Roads, and Carlton's Market and Catering in Huntsville.

The following five high performers scored a 98:  La Estancia in Russellville; DJ's Pizza on Ryland Pike in Huntsville; Moody Mondays Inc in Huntsville; Chuck E. Cheese's in Decatur; the Subway on Mall Road in Florence.
