FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Plenty of sunshine with temperatures in the lower 80s

(WAFF) -

Temperatures are on the cool side once again this morning. Most spots are running about 5° cooler than yesterday morning. You may need a light jacket for an hour or two given temperatures in the mid-to-upper 50s. You can expect a quick warm-up today with plenty of sunshine.

Temperatures will push into the lower 80s by Noon with highs into the mid-80s. Winds should be out of the north at 5-10 mph. The light north wind should keep humidity low today, and allow for another cool night at least by June standards. Lows should drop into the upper 50s once again under mainly clear skies.

Winds turn to the east on Thursday, and will be more southerly on Friday. That signals the start to some of the hottest weather we’ve seen so far this year.  Highs should be into the upper 80s to near 90° on Thursday with low/mid-90s expected Friday. This heat will continue into the weekend with mid-90s for Saturday and Sunday.

It will feel muggier although not as oppressive as what we typically deal with during the summer. So even though mid-90s are in the forecast, it’s likely the heat index stays below 100. We should remain dry through the weekend, but isolated afternoon storms could develop as we start the new work week.
