HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Huntsville native Hunter Morris has had a nice baseball career from Grissom to All-American and SEC Player of the Year honors to professional baseball.
Twenty-seven-year-old Morris is now headed back to the Plains to begin his coaching career. He will be a student assistant coach under Butch Thompson.
Morris always knew once he hung up the cleats for good that he wanted to begin his coaching journey.
"Thrilled to be here," said Morris. "Auburn's played such a big role in my life, in my career in baseball. It's an opportunity to come back and hopefully, make an impact on this program. I'll work with coaches I have a ton of respect for. Look really forward to working with these guys and pushing this program to the next level."
Morris always knew that somehow, someway, he wanted to stay close to the game.
"The game is gonna go on without you. Just the thought of having an impact on a player's career certainly makes the transition much more exciting," said Morris.
