JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The board for the State Department of Education has voted unanimously to support the state position and not federal guidelines on transgender bathrooms that called for transgender students to be treated in accord with their identified gender.

Two concerned parents waiting to hear the board’s decision had a heated and emotional exchange with reporters.

"Do you want to go into the bathroom with my little girl?  That is the same damn thing. That's why we're here for this bull crap that yall trying to push on us," said an unidentified parent.

Reporter: Are you transgender? Parent: No, I'm not.  Reporter: Are you gay?  Parent: No, I'm not, are you?  Reporter: Does it matter? Parent: Are you gay?" Second parent:  It’s an agenda. It's an agenda that's being shoved down everyone's throat and it's dangerous."

Governor Phil Bryant released a statement saying he applauds the Mississippi State Board of Education for reversing the unilateral decision of the State Superintendent  and recognizing that going along with the Obama administration's social experiment would have been harmful to school children and damaging to the process of educating them.
