FRIDAY MORNING ON WAFF 48 NEWS TODAY

(WAFF) -

Hello and good morning from Trent Butler! I'm sure many of you are glad it's Friday as we head into the weekend!

Huntsville police say, because of one person's careless thinking, three people are gone. Those three people are dead after a man drove the wrong way on Interstate 565 and slammed into their SUV early Thursday morning in front of the Space and Rocket Center. Now, Carai Cortez is facing murder and DUI charges. This morning, we'll share the latest on this heartbreaking investigation.

This morning, the search continues for missing EgyptAir flight 804, which disappeared from the radar early Thursday morning while carrying 66 passengers and crew from Paris to Cairo.  While investigators say technical failure is an option, they admit terrorism is a more likely cause.

Governor Bentley is accused of using private email to carry out state business and using burner cell phones to have an affair with his former top advisor, Rebekah Mason. This morning, you'll hear how once again, he denies he's done anything illegal.

Plus, we'll help you plan your weekend by running down a variety of great family friendly events including a rodeo in Limestone County and the Third Friday event in Decatur.

Make sure you have an umbrella and working windshield wipers today! David Ernst says most of us will see rain today and some areas will be soaked with heavy rain! You can stay dry by spending your morning with us inside watching WAFF 48 News Today. See you soon!
