HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - One of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game, made a stop to speak to youngsters in Huntsville Saturday. Earvin "Magic" Johnson made a stop to Columbia High School to chat with campers at the Stepoff Sports Basketball Camp.
Johnson shared an important message today as part of the Step off sports basketball camp. The campers had a ton of questions
for Magic, and Magic in turn had some great words of encouragement for the youngsters as well.
"My love and passion was basketball. But also too, I was smart enough to know to get a good education. You got to go to class, you can't put all of your eggs in one basket, and say I just want to be a ball player and that's it. I want to make sure that they know that they can do it if they apply themselves, if they stay discipline, if they really master the basics," Johnson told the youngsters.
Johnson's wife, Earlitha "Cookie" Johnson is a Huntsville native, and also accompanied Johnson to the camp. "Magic" also went to Oakwood University for a prior engagement as well.
