HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Here's a headline for you: Woman Steals Socks. As funny as that might sound, it actually happened and it involved "Funny Money."

You see the woman at the checkout counter at the Belk in Parkway Place Mall on December 15. She was in the process of "socking it" to the store using counterfeit cash.

So how did she do it?

Believe it or not, police say on two separate occasions, she bought a pair of socks. She paid for them using fake $50 bills.

These are obviously inexpensive items, so she was able to get back more "real" cash as change.

We just have one shot. But if you look closely, you can make out her face and also see a pair of socks there on the counter.

We usually say "if the shoe fits", but in this case "if the sock fits" she's going to be socked with a forgery charge.

If you know who she is, we've got some real cash coming your way.

To cash in on a reward of up to $1,000 make the anonymous call to 256-53-Crime telling us who and where she is. You can also submit your tips via email or text - click here for more details.
