ON WAFF 48 NEWS TODAY!

Happy Tuesday Everyone! Plenty to get through this morning on WAFF 48 News Today.

No gas tax increase for Madison residents. Madison City leaders decided not to move forward with increasing the tax from 2 to 5 cents last night. The extra money was supposed to be used for road repairs, so what do they plan on doing now? We'll explain their Plan B at 4:30, 5:00 & 6:00 a.m.

We're also following the arrest of a man accused with shooting a woman in the head in Arab. We'll break down where the case stands.

It's a big day for presidential hopefuls as 5 states along the eastern seaboard vote in primaries. States like Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Delaware don't get a lot of attention during primary season but they are now in this contentious election. We'll also look at the Ted Cruz/John Kaisch partnership to take down Donald Trump at 5:00 & 6:00 a.m.

When it comes to politics in Alabama, we are just days away from the end of the legislative session. It seems to come down to the wire for lawmakers every year. A state lottery is still on the agenda, what to do about issuing marriage licenses in this state and more. Reporter Jonathan Radford will explain it all in live reports at 5:30 a.m. & 6:30 a.m. 

When it comes to the weather today, we really can't beat it. We're starting out in the low 60s this morning and will warm up to low 80s. Make sure to tune in for your weather on the 10s this morning with Meteorologist David Ernst.

Who doesn't like burgers? Well, you have to hear where one fast food was storing their burger buns and what it has to do with flushing and washing your hands at 5:00 a.m.

    Huntsville police need your help finding 37 year old,  Marcus Antonio Prentice.  Huntsville Police have issued 4 Felony Assault Warrants.  He’s approximately 5’11” 160 lbs. Huntsville Police Responded to two separate shootings on June 19, 2018 and currently working on locating a single suspect. These calls involved victims at 905 Lee Drive and 807 Appleby Street.     A bus carrying elementary children was hit in the rear 30 miles north of Birmingham between Cullman and Birmingham in Blount County on 1-65 S. Tanner Elementary 21st Century Program was taking approximately 22 students and 3 faculty members to the Birmingham Zoo today when they were struck in the rear  After arriving on scene paramedics advise there are no injuries in this crash.
