Tiggs named head coach at Bob Jones

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - After a long search for a head basketball coach, Bob Jones decided the best man for the job was actually roaming the halls.

Former Sparkman and James Clemens Head Coach Luther Tiggs was named the new Patriots Head Coach Friday morning. Tiggs said he is excited about being back on the sidelines again.

"Well I'm back," Tiggs said Friday. "And I'm excited, and I'm looking forward to this opportunity. It's not just a great day for me, but it's a great day for Bob Jones High School, Madison City School System. Bob Jones is a job I've coveted for a long time as I've said before, and I think the timing is right."
Tiggs has an impressive record of 347-161 in 15 years as head coach of Buckhorn, Sparkman, and James Clemens High Schools. He has eight area championships, seven regional appearances, four regional finals, and one final-four appearance.

"This is nothing new to me. I've been assistant principal and athletics director for two years here, so I think I know what we need in this program and the expectations by my administration. And I know our kids are hungry for a winner."
