PRICEVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two local communities are shaken by the murders of a man and his wife, allegedly killed by their son. Andrew Hulsey, 23, is charged with two counts of capital murder.
Neighbors of Jeremy and Sandra Hulsey in Hartselle said they are shocked and their hearts are broken. The other community is a small, tight-knit church congregation.
Jeremy Hulsey,43, and his wife Sandra, 37, were their friends and he was their only preacher.
Word about what happened began to move through the Aldridge Grove Church of Christ Friday morning. The church sits in Lawrence County, near Moulton city limits, just off of Highway 36.
The church will hold services Sunday, as they always do. The congregation had to find another preacher, a substitute who is helping them as they work through the loss of two people who member Kenny Aldridge said were two of the best people they could ever know.
"They were loving people. They were the same tomorrow as they were yesterday. They weren't wishy-washy. They stood for the same thing. They were steadfast. I just can't say enough good about them because they were... they were good," Aldridge said.
The Hulseys' home sits in an area with a Hartselle mailing address, but it is in the Priceville Police Department's jurisdiction. They, with assistance from the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, are conducting the investigation.
Authorities said they discovered the gun they believe Andrew Hulsey used to kill his parents. Priceville police confirmed that they were advised the suspect was adopted by the victims.
