DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A new project at Decatur Morgan Hospital's Parkway campus is calling attention to Child Abuse Prevention month.

Several local schools participated, creating pieces of art that will help raise money for the Parents And Child Together organization., according to PACT Adult Program Manager, Tammy Anderson.

"On May 18th, our May luncheon, all [pieces of art] will be in a silent auction," said PACT Adult Program Manager, Tammy Anderson. "The print that has family written with the shoe laces, we have those prints available at the PACT office for $20 dollars each as a fundraiser."

Those funds will be collected by PACT and used for community-based programs.

"14 different programs at PACT and they're all centered around strengthening families in Morgan County," said Anderson. "We have school-based programs, home visitation programs, parenting education programs, healthy relationship and marriage programs."

This also gives children an opportunity to give back to their community and get involved at a young age.

Marie Burgess is the director of the newborn center of Women's and Children's at Decatur-Morgan Hospital.

"When they do this, they can also reach out to their friends who may be in an abusive family," said Burgess. "And they see that there people out there that love them and care about them and there is a community here to help them. It's about helping families in our community and this is a great way to get community involvement in their own care."

A focus on children and families while giving back in Bobby's Bama.
