Havoc prepares for SPHL President's Cup playoffs

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Two weeks ago, the Huntsville Havoc's playoff hopes were still up in the air.

After a couple of wins, the Havoc clinched a spot and now will focus on just staying alive.

The Havoc is the seven seed in this year's President's Cup. They will take on the Pensacola Ice Flyers in a best of three series.

Game one is set for Thursday night, with game two at the VBC Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

"We're excited to be in the playoffs," Havoc Head Coach Glenn Deutello said Monday morning during practice. "Team is doing pretty well. Looking forward to the challenge, we got a good chance of winning. We're hoping it's going to be us."

The Havoc played the Ice Flyers April 1 and 2 and split the two games. A new season set this week.

Havoc players hope to fine tune the game plan before game one.

"Playoffs are a new season, and I just think that getting better each day," said Havoc Left Wing Jason Biernes. "So when we play each night we put our best foot forward, and giving us a chance to win."

If a game three is necessary, it will be played at the Columbus Civic Center in Georgia. That's because of an already scheduled event at the Pensacola Civic Center.
