NCAA bans satellite camps, cancels camp at Bob Jones

MADISON, AL (WAFF) - There will be no more satellite camps for FBS schools. The ruling came Friday after the SEC, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12 voted against college programs holding camps in and around the country.

Michigan Coach Jim Harbaugh was set to visit Bob Jones in June, but that will not be the case anymore.

"To me, it's just a lost opportunity for kids," said Bob Jones head Coach Kevin Rose Friday. "Not just at Bob Jones, but for every kid that plays football in a 100-mile radius of here." Rose added and said he was expecting 500 campers to attend the June camp.

There were also numerous high school coaches that would have been there to help, along with numerous other college coaching staffs.
"We had a ton of local high school coaches that were going to help," Rose later said. "Alabama and Auburn are great universities, but there are a lot of universities that provide opportunities for kids. We want to make as many opportunities for high school kids that we can in North Alabama."
