For the third consecutive week, a member of the University of North Alabama softball team has received Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors. League officials announced on Tuesday that Brooklynn Clark was the recipient of the weekly conference award.
The senior first baseman from Seadrift, Texas, hit .727 in three games as No. 4 North Alabama took two of three games from No. 11 UAH in a key GSC road series. She was 8-of-11 at the plate and increased her league-leading batting average to .489 for the season.
For the week, Clark drove in four runs and scored twice. She had multiple hits and drove in at least one run in each of the three games, including a 3-for-3 effort in Game 1 on Saturday. Her 68 total hits and .523 on-base percentage also lead the GSC.
A different player has taken home the weekly honor in each of the previous three weeks for the Lions. Reagan Tittle won the award on last week while Courtney Shields took home the honor on March 23. On Feb. 9, UNA's Hillary Carpenter also received Pitcher of the Week honors while Hannah Bodenhorn was named Freshman of the Week on the same day.
