HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - No. 4 UNA v. No.11 UAH to face off Saturday at Charger Park.
"They're a great team, they're well-coached, and they are having a season of their entire existence and they're just on a roll," said Chargers' Coach Les Stuedeman Thursday.
"They know what's on the line, they know that UAH is a great program, and they will have to come out and give it all they got, and they've just worked hard all week, and they'll be ready," said UNA Head Coach Ashley Cozart.
The Lions will come into Saturday with a 35-4 record and a 19-2 record in the GSC, which is good enough for first place. The Lions swept Delta State last weekend and the Chargers took two of three from Shorter last weekend and are 30-7 overall and tied for second at 16-5.
Rivalry aside, Les Stuedeman and Ashley Cozart have a ton of respect for each other.
"She's doing a great job," Studeman added. "And yes this is the best UNA team I've seen since I've been coaching. It's great for the league."
"Anything can happen when you have a great big rival game, but I think it's great for softball in North Alabama and Huntsville," Cozart added. "It's exciting to see both of these programs going at it and the talent that both programs have, so it's going to be a great weekend."
The doubleheader gets started Saturday at 2 p.m. followed by a single game Sunday at 2 p.m.
