TUSCALOOSA, AL (WAFF) -

The attacks on Brussels shocked the entire world on Tuesday, as many innocent people lost their lives after the terrorist attack. The events hit close to home for one Alabama basketball player.

Alabama Crimson Tide senior basketball player Retin Obasohan is a native of Belgium.

Obasohan frantically attempted to call home to check on friends and family and later found out that everyone was safe. That wasn’t the case for numerous people in and around the country.

On Tuesday Obasohan spoke with the media.

"I just wanna extend my thoughts and prayers to my friends and family,” said Obasohan who just completed his final season of eligibility at Alabama. “Just fellow people of my country. It's been tough, just waking up, just hearing those stories. The country is just on lockdown now."
