HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

"Reveille" is the traditional start to a soldier's day, and beginning Monday, it will be heard bright and early at 0630 hours. (6:30 a.m.)

In addition, "Retreat" will be sounded at 5 p.m. to signify the end of the duty day.

At no time will traffic be stopped during the ceremonies, according to this protocol document (PDF).

Traditionally, Reveille is the time at which the U.S. Flag is raised. Retreat, at which the flag is lowered, originally occurred at sunset.

This tradition dates back to the American Revolution and was adopted from Colonial customs.
