Body of Asbury drowning victim located, identified

The search for a drowning victim in Marshall County has come to an end.

17-year-old Emmanuel Villaovos-Torres went into the water at the Double Bridges in the Asbury community Monday afternoon.

First responders said he fell into the waters, and his friend tried to get him out.

Crews arrived just before noon Monday. The rescue squad was later called out to help.

Asbury volunteer fire officials said the teens were planning to swim together, when the 17-year-old got caught up in the currents and went under.

The body of the teen was found about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, about a quarter mile downstream from the bridges.

Emmanuel was a junior at Albertville High School.

His death was ruled an accidental drowning; his body has been taken to a funeral home in Albertville.
