Divers search 'points of interest' for missing fishermen

FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - Lauderdale County EMA officials have confirmed divers are searching "two points of interest" connected to the search of two fishermen who went missing on Wednesday.

TVA slowed the flow of spillways near Wilson Dam near two points that authorities identified using sonar in searches performed Sunday. Search dogs also hit upon the same two areas on Saturday.

Officials have searched for brothers Jeremiah and Jacob Sanders since they went missing from Florence Harbor. A report came in just before 7 p.m. Wednesday that two men were missing.

Lauderdale County EMA Director George Grabryan said the conditions were making it challenging for crews to search the area for the missing men.

"It is as usual this time of year with visibility next to nothing. Anything we do in the water will actually be with hands and actually feeling what we are seeing on the sonar," said Grabryan.

Jeremiah, manager of area restaurant Ricatoni's, is 29 years old, officials said. Jacob, who is bass player for area band Velcro Pygmies, is 24.

Dozens of volunteers have gone out in hope of finding a sign of the Sanders brothers over the last five days.
