DECATUR, AL (WAFF) - Decatur Police Department and U.S. Marshals have been searching for a man who was wanted in connection to a deadly shooting and robbery that occurred in late January.
Wednesday, Christopher Andre Swoopes turned himself into the Decatur Police Department.
Swoopes is being charged with capital murder.
He was booked into the Decatur City Jail and was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail with no bond.
Jan. 26, officers with the Decatur Police Department responded to a call at a home on 6th Avenue Southwest in reference to a shooting.
When officers arrived they found Saul Ocampo lying in the doorway of the home dead.
Detectives with the Decatur Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit were called to the scene.
During the investigation, investigators learned that Ocampo had been shot by Swoopes during a robbery.
Swoopes fled the scene after the shooting.
