(WAFF) - "ALDI fans" have something to smile about this week, as the no-frills grocery store chain announced it now accepts credit cards at all of its locations in the United States.
Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express can now be used at the checkout lane.
As part of its policy of cutting out extras like extended hours and relying primarily on private label brand products on its shelves, credit cards had for years been one of the things the company had said "no" to, citing fees the companies levy on a retailer each time one of their cards is swiped.
Debit cards and electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards had been the only plastic payment options accepted at ALDI until now.
However, ALDI executives say the acceptance of credit in their stores will not result in higher prices for their customers.
