FIRST ALERT: Raise the Wage rally set for Thursday night--details on WAFF 48 News Today

(WAFF) -

Raise the Wage rally

A Huntsville group is planning to meet on the steps of City Hall Thursday night, calling on city leaders to raise the local minimum wage. Currently, the minimum wage is set at the federal level, which is $7.25 an hour. This group is asking for the minimum wage to be raised to $8.50 an hour and eventually reach $10.10 an hour. The rally follows the passing of a bill in the Alabama House earlier this week, banning cities from setting its own local minimum wage.

Toyota issues recall

Toyota is recalling nearly three million SUVs worldwide because of seat belt problems. The company says a flaw could cause some rear seat belts to fail.
The affected vehicles are the Toyota RAV-4, RAV-4 E-V, and Toyota Vanguard. Most were built between 2005 and 2014. Toyota dealers will fix the problem at no cost. Rav-4 and Vanguard owners can contact their Toyota dealer for more information.

Cool start to Thursday

Thursday temperatures will start out in the upper 20s and lower 30s during the morning. Frost will be fairly widespread and there is also some patchy fog.  While the fog is not too widespread, many are at or below freezing, so where the fog is thicker, icy spots could develop - especially on bridges.
