FIRST ALERT: Lawmakers to speak out for, against guns in cars bill Wednesday

(WAFF) -

Hearing on SB 14 set for Wednesday

The Madison County Sheriff's Department will be taking a ride down to Montgomery Wednesday to oppose a bill that would allow people to carry a gun inside a car without a permit. They say SB14, which has been proposed in the senate, would allow anyone to conceal and carry inside a car and put more officers in danger. The hearing will take place at 1 p.m., and several people from the group of police and police organizations will be there to voice their opposition.

Crawford wins special election

Voters in Limestone County went to the polls Tuesday in a special general election. Republican Danny Crawford was victorious over Democrat Henry White in the race for the District Five seat. Election officials said the margin was Crawford with 2,216 votes against White's 1,540.

Cloudy skies in store for Wednesday

Skies will be cloudy Wednesday morning and that will continue through much of the day. Temperatures are generally in the mid-to-upper 30s this morning, but a north wind at 5-10 mph is making it feel like it’s in the lower 30s. Temperatures will warm slowly and highs should stay in the upper 40s this afternoon.
