Happy Friday and TGIF heading into this Valentine's weekend.
We will be covering breaking news where a body of an elderly woman was found by a passerby outside the parking garage at The Orthopedic Center on Franklin Street.
Unfortunately, we're following a deadly traffic mess on I-565 in Huntsville this afternoon. One person was killed, another sent to the hospital after two separate wrecks an hour apart. Of course, those accidents also snarled rush hour traffic. Jake Berent will have the latest from state road officials on ways to make this route safer for you and your family.
Speaking of driving, Huntsville officials are hoping a new option turns out to be a benefit for the Tennessee Valley. The City Council has amended city ordinances to allow for ride share companies like Uber and Lyft to come to Huntsville. Franklin White will have more from downtown business owners who hope this will increase their business.
Also, an Alabama woman who was serving a life sentence for running her granddaughter to death has died. 50-year old Joyce Garrard of Attalla died today after suffering a heart attack in prison. She was convicted of forcing her 9-year old granddaughter Savannah Hardin to run to her death in 2012 after the child had eaten candy. More details for you at 10.
