Chipotle offers "raincheck" burrito to make up for lunchtime closing

(WAFF) - After an E. coli outbreak, Chipotle stores closed all their locations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday for a food safety meeting.

About 500 people got sick during the outbreak, including several Boston College basketball players.

To repay those customers missing out on their usual lunch spot, Chipotle is offering a "raincheck."

From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, you can text "RAINCHECK" to 888-222 and following the directions you get through the SMS link to get a free burrito.

You can find the directions and rules here.

QR codes for the giveaway will be given on a first to participate first served basis while supplies last. Chipotle says the odds of receiving a QR code will depend upon the total number of participants during the Giveaway Period.

Chipotle will reopen all locations at 3 p.m. Monday.
