Crosby's basket propels Johnson to rivalry win

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - Brandon Crosby played the game of his life, so said Johnson Head coach Jack Doss. Crosby's layup with under 10 seconds to play gave the Jaguars a 63-61 win over rival Lee inside the Von Braun Center Thursday night.

5,500 fans packed inside the arena to watch a classic game.

A back and forth affair from start to finish, Lee led by as many as ten late in the second half before Johnson tied the game at 61. After that, Crosby closed the show.

"I'm so proud of our kids. What excitement. What a great atmosphere," said Jack Doss minutes after the game.  "It's everything that you could dream of in basketball. Brandon Crosby played better than he's ever played in his life tonight. We played without Justin Hopkins tonight for the last quarter. I'm just proud of our team. Lee played a great game, we just played a little better."

It was the final game between Lee and what's known as Johnson High School. The doors close at the end of the school year, and students will head to the new Jemison High School.

But for history's sake. Johnson will always have bragging rights over Lee in the final game of a classic rivalry.
