Kitchen Cops: 4 low performers, 5 high performers


India Garden, located at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Madison scored an 82 during their last inspection. The Madison County Health Department's report shows a cold-holding food violation for a chicken dish in the walk-in cooler that was 11 degrees above the temperature needed to prevent bacterial growth. Also, the inspector reports there was no measurable chlorine in the dish machine.

One critical violation was reported at JJ's in Cherokee as the restaurant scored an 84. The Colbert County Health Department reports balogna and ham was six to eight degrees above the 41-degree maximum allowed cold-holding temperature.

The Jiffy Food Store on Hobbs Street in Athens scored an 80. They lost points because the drink nozzles needed to be cleaned, and for food that wasn't marked to indicate when it would expire.

The Quik Mart at 802 Cox Creek Parkway in Florence scored an 82. The inspector reports some cold food was too warm, and some hot food wasn't hot enough.

The Buffalo Wild Wings in Decatur is one of this week's three Kitchen Cops High Performers that scored a 99. 5A's Restaurant in Harvest and the Pearl Viet & Hawaiian Subs food truck also missed a perfect score by just one point.
The Lawler's Barbecue Express on Balch Road in Madison is one of four high performers that scored a 98. The other are the Subway on County Line Road in Madison, Scruggs Bar-Be-Que in Huntsville, and the deli at the Publix on Pelham Avenue in Huntsville.
