Decatur police search for suspected gunman

Decatur police are hunting for a suspected gunman they believe is responsible for the shooting death of a man Tuesday night. Just before 6:30 Tuesday night, officers were called to a home on 6th Avenue in Decatur. Once they arrived, they found a man's body in the doorway of the home. Investigators on the scene determined that the victim, Saul Ocampo, was shot and killed during a robbery. They've now identified their suspect as Christopher Andre Swoopes. Swoopes fled the scene and his current whereabouts remain unknown. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

75-year-old man shot, killed

Deputies with the Madison County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal shooting on Oldwood Road that happened around 6:30 Tuesday night. Investigators said a 75-year-old man was killed. They said the shooting happened in the hallway of the home. The man's wife, currently in Huntsville Hospital, is suspected of firing the fatal shot. The woman reportedly had scratch marks on her when she was transported. However, no arrests or charges have been announced at this time.
