(NBC) - Darth Vader may be one of Hollywood's most famous villains, but on Thursday he was in Omaha, Nebraska on a mission of goodwill.
Alvin Garcia Flores had no idea that Thursday's assembly at Gateway Elementary was all about him. It's not often that the entire second grade class gets pulled out of class, but as Principal Terry Burton explains, it was for a very special occasion.
Flores was born without his right arm. His principal reached out to the student led Limbitless Solutions, a non-profit based at the University of Central Florida for help.
Thursday's assembly was held to present Flores with his new, bionic right arm; something that he had no idea was going to happen.
"I was shocked," said Flores.
The Florida students that helped create his arm couldn't fly to Nebraska for the delivery, so other arrangements were made.
Everyone knows that Flores is a huge Star Wars fan, so volunteers from the 501st Legion, the national fan organization for Star Wars bad guys, were called in to help.
Darth Vader and his entourage arrived at Gateway Elementary with the delivery. Flores didn't know the box carried by Darth Vader had something for him until he was summoned by a dark force.
