FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) - The Lady Chargers rallied Saturday against Florence to claim a win, while the men's team didn't fare quite as well on the court.
UAH stood alone in sixth place in the league and UNA last and in need of a season-changing win.
During the first half, senior Alexis Patterson, a newcomer to the roster, played very well, scoring nine points. UNA led 31-28 at the half.
UAH's Jodi Saunders helped the Chargers lead by six early in the third quarter.
By the fourth, the Lady Chargers were in command, getting two key baskets down the stretch. By the final buzzer, the Lady Chargers had won the day, 63-55.
The game just not on the men's side - the Chargers lost their Saturday match against the Lions in a 119-103 battle.
Greg Gardner scored 22 points to lead the UAH men. John Fletcher is the Lions' lead of the game, scoring 32 points.
At one point in Saturday's game, the UNA men shot 69 percent, UAH 63.
UAH started off strong with an 8-point lead mere minutes into the game, but by the half there was a 16-all tie. However, a second-half surge led UAH to the back-burner, which they just couldn't recover.
The Chargers slip to 11-5 (8-3 GSC), while UNA gets bumped to 10-7 (7-4 GSC).
The men and women of UAH take on Valdosta State in their Thursday evening contest. UNA will face off against West Florida.
