FIRST ALERT: Crimson Tide won their fourth national championship in 7 years with a 45-40 victory over the Tigers

We’re starting this morning 10-15° warmer than yesterday. That’s not to say it’s a warm morning, just not as bitter cold temperatures are generally in the lower 30s. It should be windier today, and those winds are already at 5-10 mph out of the southwest this morning. Because of the wind, it’s feeling more like the mid/upper 20s in many spots.

Alabama wins the national championship

With gold confetti being shot out of cannons, Alabama coach Nick Saban trotted to midfield to meet Clemson coach Dabo Swinney. The two shook hands, and the crowd stood and cheered. Alabama fans, and Clemson fans. The Crimson Tide won their fourth national championship in seven years with a 45-40 victory over the Tigers in a duel in the desert that keeps coach Saban's dynasty going.

Istanbul tourist district explosion

An explosion killed at least 10 people and injured 15 others Tuesday morning in a historic district of Istanbul popular with tourists, the Istanbul governor's office said. At least six Germans were among the wounded, a news agency reported. The cause of the explosion in the Sultanahmet district was being investigated, but state-run TRT television reported it was likely caused by a suicide bomber.
