FIRST ALERT: Gov. Bentley responds to Obama's gun control efforts--more on WAFF 48 News Today

Gov. Bentley releases statement on gun control

Governor Robert Bentley released a statement yesterday addressing President Obama's efforts on gun control. President Obama says he plans on taking executive action to expand background checks on firearm purchases. Governor Bentley is calling on Alabama's Congressional Delegation to fight the proposed actions, saying, "America’s founding fathers prioritized the right to keep and bear arms, and President Obama is overstepping his authority and threatening to take away our 2nd amendment rights." President Obama is expected to make an announcement regarding the executive action Tuesday afternoon.


Woman charged with capital murder making court appearance

Susie Stovall, the woman charged with capital murder in the death of her husband, will make her first appearance in court Tuesday. 67-year-old Azrel Stovall was found dead after a fire was extinguished at the couples' home in November. Stovall is facing charges of capital murder and arson.


Plenty of sunshine expected Tuesday

Temperatures Tuesday morning will start out in the mid-to-upper 20s but it will feel like the upper teens due to the wind chill. Temperatures will top out in the 40s, slightly warmer than Monday, and plenty of sunshine can be expected.
