President Obama is taking on gun lobby with announcement today

Happy Monday Folks! The gang is back to together now that the holidays are behind us. Trent Butler, David Ernst and myself are here and don't forget to tune in for your weather on the tens, that wind chill is rough this morning.

Here's what we have going on today. President Obama is getting ready for what may be the most difficult fight of his entire presidency. He's taking on the gun lobby. Even without knowing what the president's plan is, Republicans are already lining up against it. We'll explain this issue at 5:00 & 6:00 a.m. on WAFF 48 News Today.

We're also tracking details about a deadly shooting in Huntsville over the weekend. This after a 19 year old male is found shot in a home on Kyle Lane.

There's a new database where you can find animal abusers. It's similar to the sex offender registry. Now some are pushing for the registry in Alabama.

Gas under $2 is great while it lasts, but some experts say it will last and may even go down more.

    Authorities are searching for a Decatur work release inmate who walked away from his job site in Tuscumbia according to our news partner, the Times Daily. The Alabama Department of Corrections said Tobby Randall Blackstock, 40, is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with strawberry blond hair and brown eyes. He has tattoos on both arms and was wearing black shoes, dark blue jeans and a blue T-shirt. According to DOC, he walked away from his assigned job location at 5:35 p.m. Friday....More >>
